Every Child Deserves the Spark to Learn
We build free hands-on DIY learning kits for underprivileged students across Detroit — igniting curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of discovery.
Detroit's Future Starts with Curiosity
Spark 313 was founded on one belief: every child in Detroit deserves hands-on, exploratory learning — regardless of zip code or family income.
We build DIY kits spanning electronics, science, art, and coding, and deliver them free to underserved schools and communities across the 313.
- All kits permanently free — every single one
- Aligned with Michigan K–12 STEM standards
- Community-funded, volunteer-assembled with love
Getting the kit made me feel like a real scientist. I built a circuit and the light actually turned on!
From Donor to Doorstep
Every kit travels a deliberate journey — from community support to a child's hands.
Community Funding
Donors, volunteers, and corporate partners fund every kit — ensuring they're always completely free for the students who receive them.

Our volunteers hand-select materials, write age-appropriate guides, and assemble each kit to make hands-on learning truly accessible for every learner.
